Location

The Cottage is the most secluded and some claim the most romantic hideaway in this part of Bristol. Featured in numerous history books of the city, it is curiously unknown to Bristolians even living in neighbouring roads. There are two reasons - it is only reached down a mysterious footpath and it has turned its back on Clifton with its windows facing south away from public areas.

This may sound like a property that is in rural England and yet the cottage is on the cusp between Georgian Clifton and the 18th century spa suburb of Hotwell http://www.about-bristol.co.uk/wat-01.asp

It is a property of contrasts.

Like any city suburb property it is overlooked by neighbouring properties, but at the same time has stunning views both across the River Avon to Ashton Court’s parklands and to the historic Clifton Suspension Bridge – a heart-pumping 15 minute walk away up the zigzag country walk.  http://www.clifton-suspension-bridge.org.uk/

The international airport is an easy 8½ mile drive from the cottage, http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/ while the city’s centre and business heart are just over a mile away – or 20 minutes if you want a more leisurely commute by ferry! From the centre are high speed trains to London, Cardiff and Birmingham, plus fast road links to the M4 and M5 motorways. Alternatively, within minutes from The Cottage you could be –

All jostle for space with Clifton’s scores of chic restaurants, pubs, clubs and clothing boutiques; plus don’t forget that Clifton even has its very own zoo.

And yet incredibly, all of the above are within 20 minutes walk of The Cottage!

But this BS8 home is also for those who love the countryside. It is at the start of the Avon Gorge, which is designated as an SSSI for its geological as well as its wildlife interest, and has also been proposed for designation as a Special Area of Conservation. Within minutes you can be on the 3km walk through the Gorge - keep a watch out for the peregrine falcons and rock climbers!

Also on the far side of the Suspension Bridge are the rolling hills of Ashton Court and Leigh Woods                        http://www.about-bristol.co.uk/prk-02.asp
and on this side The Downs.  http://www.about-bristol.co.uk/prk-01.asp

But most important of all, The Cottage is part of a friendly community that even owns its own village green. http://www.hotwells.freeserve.co.uk/h otwells.html

Whatever the season there is always an excuse to come together for a drink and for more than quarter of a century Father Christmas has never failed to walk the rooftops on 24th December to deliver presents to the youngest generation.

Warning - there is one problem with living in Bristol. You will need to learn the language!  http://www.thatbebristle.co.uk/dictionary/index.shtml
